WILLISTON, VERMONT (for immediate release) – Garmont North America, designers of high-performance ski boots and technical outdoor footwear, this week signed big mountain extreme skier Griffin Post to their brand ambassador team.A power player on the freeskiing world stage, Post is the reigning US Extreme Freeskiing Champion. Competing globally on the Subaru Freesking World Tour and the Freeride World Tour, Post’s competition circuit brings him face to face with the best skiers on the most challenging terrain in the world.

Post was born in Austria, raised in Idaho and now calls Jackson Hole, Wyoming his home. His skiing career started at age 3, and today at age 27 his career includes descents of some of the world’s most remote and iconic destinations, such as Chamonix, France; Engadin St. Moritz, Switzerland; Telluride, Colo.; Sochi, Russia; and, Las Lenas, Argentina.
“Griffin Post is relentlessly enthusiastic about the sport of skiing and we’re thrilled have Garmont represented in that light through him,” said Gord Bailey, president of Garmont. “Constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible on snow; we are pleased to support Posts’ intense skiing adventures and excited to see where he takes Garmont next.”
In May 2010 Post employed Garmont’s Radium to conquer his “Source to Sea” expedition. During the thirty-day journey Post skied, traversed and rafted the highest peaks of Alaska’s Brooks Range, along the Noatak River-the largest protected watershed in the United States- to it’s Delta in Kotzebue before traversing and rafting out to the Chuki Sea.
For 2011 Post will be venturing into the backcountry in Garmont’s Radium and Masterlite alpine touring boots. For competition and exposed inbound lines Post buckles up the Garmont Shaman.
Known for numerous sport-specific innovations and a performance fit supported by Anatomically Directed Design, Garmont’s exceptional product line includes award-winning alpine, alpine touring and telemark ski boots; and outdoor footwear for mountaineering, backpacking, hiking and trail sports.
For winter 2011, Garmont’s ski mountaineering collection is led by their new high performance alpine touring boot: the Masterlite. With a dynamic lightweight design, the Masterlite weighs in at only 1090g per boot, yet still provides the exceptional control and performance needs of demanding skiers like Post.
Developed by Garmont engineers over the last two years, the Masterlite features a unique spiderweb “Webframe” shell which shaves hundreds of grams per boot while still maintaining the critical elements needed for solid structure and high performance.
Garmont’s Radium – also preferred by Post – is one of the true icons of backcountry skiing. Blending control and comfort, the Radium features four-buckle performance in a lightweight multiple injection shell. The Radium’s overlap shell design follows the anatomy of the foot and lower leg for crisp, precise downhill performance. At the same time, the design eliminates a restrictive tongue to allow more independent movement between the cuff and lower shell.
